  1. I remember an example I once saw of Cold War spycraft: they stole a target’s shoe during the night and filled the heel with a tracking device. Pretty standard spook stuff, really, but it’s got me thinking: who’s the enemy here? Cisco? One of their customers? Both?

    Alas, the true answer is: all of us. We, the people, are the enemies of the state. The great war machine, deprived of an external enemy, now wages war upon its own supporting populace.

    Is there any way to organize humanity that doesn’t lead to us trying to destroy ourselves?
